Summary

Bold design and brilliant visual comedy highlight a trio of stories sure to make any child happy。

Chris Haughton knows what makes people tick 。 。 。 and what makes kids laugh。 The three books in this essential collection are as pithy as fables, as chortle-icious as knock-knock jokes, and as fitting in nursery collections as the works of Lear, Carroll, Seuss, or Goose。 Included in this box are Little Owl Lost, Oh No, George!, and Shh! We Have a Plan。

Cat Strawberry

This is such a fun box set of some really great picture books! This box set is wrapped in shrink wrap and is quite small, about A5 in width and the same in height (so a little shorter than an A5 piece of paper), and is filled with three board books by Chris Haughton: A Bit Lost, Oh no George! and Shh! We Have a Plan。 Each book is really funny and has a story that children will love, and every book is a good and sturdy board book with rounded corners and matt pages that hold colourful ilustration This is such a fun box set of some really great picture books! We Have a Plan。 Each book is really funny and has a story that children will love, and every book is a good and sturdy board book with rounded corners and matt pages that hold colourful ilustrations and text。The box you get these three board books in is made of a very thick cardboard and is very sturdy so the books, being heavy as they are board books, easily stay in the box and are held well。 The books themselves are of a good quality too, all of them with good thick pages that are rounded at the edges and so won’t hurt young children’s hands。 Each page has a matt finish but hold some really lovely illustrations with a little text。The three books you get are so funny to read and I can see children (and even adults) really enjoying these tales。 The stories are simple but about things children will encounter and understand and they all have lovely and funny endings。 I’ll leave a small review of each book below and I’ve reviewed each one individually in more detail seperately, but these stories are just soy fun to read with some funny moments and classic repetition that children just love and I think all kids will enjoy both the stories and the illustrations。Each page is filled with text and generally follows a colour palette that fits the cover and all the books have brilliant illustrations that really are quite simple and yet show such brilliant emotion on the characters faces。 I really like George’s face (and snout) throughout the book ‘Oh no, George!’, especially at the end, and the sweet ending of ‘A Bit Lost’ is just perfect with that funny moment right at the end! This boxed set is perfect if you are new to Chris Haughton’s books or if you want to get them in a more convenient and smaller sized board book and a lovely neat box to go with it。 Children will just love looking at all the pictures and even reading aloud with the funny repeated moments and as I’ve said before, I think many adults will also find these fun to read too。 If you get the chance to read the back page too you’ll see that the above the author dedication of each book are some very interesting quotes by famous people which only adults will understand。THE BOOKS:-A Bit Lost: Little Owl was fast asleep and fell out of his nest。 Now he’s lost and can’t find his mummy。 But surely if he just describes her to Squirrel, then Squirrel will know where his mummy is, but maybe there’s more than one animal that looks like his mum! This story is so simple yet so warm and sweet while finishing on a funny note right at the end。 There’s also an interesting half-page at the start。-Oh no, George!: George the dog promises to be good while Harris goes out of the house。 He wants to be good, but then George spots a cake, and George loves cake…what will George do? This story had me laughing alound and I couldn’t stop。 The repetition is just brilliant in this one with George constantly finding more things that could get him in trouble!-Shh! We Have a Plan: Four friends are out looking to catch a bird with their nets。 The smallest one wants to greet the bird, but the others shush him, they have a plan。 But will their plan work, or will the bird fly away? I love this book with how obvious and silly the three older friends are。 Again the repetition of their actions just makes this all the more funny and I love how it ends!-Thanks to Walker Books for a free copy for review。 。。。more
